My Innovative Work At A Glance...

As Mathematics seems to be a little bit dry subject, it is necessary to teach students the subject in innovative ways. Innovation simply means new. Innovation in education can be defined as a new or novel approach to teaching or learning that results in a transformative educational experience to the students.
So as part of my innovative work as well for arousing in students an interest in learning the topic "Construction of Parallelograms", I make use of origami (the art of paper folding). I demonstrate to students how to make a parallelogram and rhombus out of a sheet of paper by paper folding. It really works well. The procedure of making is shown here. Go through it and have a try...

Weekly Reflection 6

TEACHING PRACTICE WEEKLY REPORT

WEEK 6 (08/01/2018 - 12/01/2018)

And at last the time has reached... Yes! This is the time for bidding farewell to my dear students...
We, the BEd trainees has successfully completed our teaching practice and this was the last week of our Teaching practice in the 4th semester and the BEd course itself. We are returning to our college after the great 6 weeks of teaching in Mount Tabor Girls High School, Pathanapuram.
In this week I completed the remaining 2 lesson plans to hit my target of 30 lesson plans of the semester. After the completion of 30 lesson plans, I spend time in clearing the doubts of students and solving some more problems in the portions taught after Christmas exam. I also conducted a test paper. As the portion given for the test is small the students prepared well for it and scored good marks.
On the last day I wished my students all success in their future life and they also wished me the same. It is really hard to bid farewell to my students as they have influenced me deeply. There has arisen a deep affection between me and my students within this short period of time. On the last day we distributed sweets to our students as a token of love. Also we arranged a meeting for the teaching and non-teaching staffs of the school as a part of our farewell. The principal of the school bid farewell to us and wished all success in our career.
This teaching practice really gifted me a handful of experiences that absolutely supplements my teaching profession. Now teaching has become my passion too. I gain some level of confidence in teaching. The familiar saying "Practice makes Perfect"  has become true in my case.

Teaching is the most noblest of all professions second only to priesthood. Teacher is the light of the world who takes the young minds from darkness to light, from falsehood to truth and from ugliness to beauty. A good teacher should always be a good living model who would confidently says "Do as I Do" rather than "Do as I Say".
"But a temple built by a teacher
Can never decay
It was human life that was built here
To last through eternity"

Weekly Reflection 5

TEACHING PRACTICE WEEKLY REPORT

WEEK 5 (01/01/2018 - 06/01/2018)

New year...New hopes...New week... Yes! Here begins the remaining section of our teaching practice, after the Christmas vacation. All the students seemed energetic this week, which is surely the reflection of the new year.
Students got the scores of their exams. On the first two days of this week I could see a mixture of feelings in my class...Some were happy of the unexpected scores...Some were sad about their lost marks...Also there were some who had no expressions at all after receiving their answer papers. But all returned to the normal mood soon.
In this week there was a school assembly on Thursday. During the occasion students who participated in state level competitions were appreciated. There was also the drawing out of lucky tip carried out by on behalf of the Basketball Tournament conducted at St.Stephen's High School, Pathanapuram on the same occasion.
In this week there were 5 working days. Saturday was a working day for the school. I have completed 4 lesson plans this week which made my lesson plans to a total of 28. In this week too I took a class based on a model of teaching, namely the constructivist model. It really worked a lot. Through this model my students were able to construct knowledge on the area of parallelograms. In other lessons I used various teaching aids such as paper cutouts, activity cards, charts, video etc.
Knowingly or unknowingly there developed a strong bond between me and my students. I have understood the their levels. Now it is really painful to leave them. But the truth can't be changed. There is only one more week left for us to be in the school. We are stepping on to the last week of the teaching practice.
Hoping for a colourful week ahead.....
